As I consider my very busy business in real estate, and my position as chairperson on our Humboldt Association of Realtors Education Committee, and I explore the impact of technology on the changing landscape of our business, I think it is about time to practice what I preach! Now I certainly will not make any promises to myself or the community at large, (I learned after years of teaching middle school, and being a parent in a blended family of 5 young adult children, I shall not ever make a promise in case I cannot not fullfill it...I can, however, endeavor....and so I begin...
It is the wee hours of Friday morning...the sky is full of stars and the moon is but a sliver...I am compelled to get my morning excersize completed in the allotted time between sleep and shower, so I can run my way to work to help organize my day...
I am indeed sad that I have not had a chance to return all the social calls on my voice mail, but proud that I am only a half day behind on my business necessities. Though I am once again distracted by my inclination to have a larger internet presence.
I am extremely intrigued by the impact technology has on our daily lives, how my children, growing up in this time, are able to travel and converse all around the world, both literally and figuratively, via facebook, twitter, skype and the age old airplane...
I need to buckle in...I feel like I have been trying to grasp at the handrails of this train speeding by, catching glimpses of a new beginning that ancients have been predicting for centuries...new way to communicate, new languages, new worlds....and then I think of my place in it all, how important to me the concept of housing and connecting dreams of housing with reality.
The market here in Humboldt is indeed picking up some speed in the low end (under 200k) but I don't have a clue how long it will last. I am doing more and more short sales, and find that I have no fear to address the next turn of events in this market...
Housing is indeed complicated. We need it. A roof over our heads, a clean place to sleep and stay warm. One thing I have learned in this business, though, is EVERYONE is different. Everyone has a different image of what that "home" should be. From the Balloon Track to the mansions, people have varying takes on what an acceptable home is or needs to be.
I will, like I said, merely endeavor to Blog for 10 minutes a day...a journal of sorts, into my small peephole of life in the forefront of real estate in Humboldt County, and my journey beyond into a statewide and ultimately a national and global role.
I wonder if anyone will be interested, though the little experience I do have on line, I see more people than I think are watching...
I look forward to the conversations I hear a blog will create, and I look forward to seeing how I grow and change through this particular process, and the world in general, which I see on a very fast pace toward a new state of mind and being.
If you happen to read this, I would love for a simple hello to let me know you are listening, and like my bag lunches that I make for our educational seminar attendees, I will create this with love and passion, reflecting how I enjoy my business and my life.
Cheers!
